What an absolute joy of a book - a book about books. A scholarly account of books of the past and what they mean to inidividuals who engage with them through the years. I was excited to read this book, and I was not disappointed. Non-fiction is my preference in books and I really felt I learned much more about one of my favourite topics by reading this book. There are so many things to muse over, and the author does an excellent and eloquent job of allowing the reader to do just that. Combined with the beautiful cover design and the author's way with prose this is a must for the bookshelf of any bibliophile of any age. If you wanted to know about the history of books, why they have always mattered and why they still matter now in this digital age, then this is the book for you. I will be looking out for more writings from this author as this was an excellent starting place and a pleasure to read.
