Portable Magic took my attention with the beautiful name and cover.
Reading this book was a real treat. I loved how the author has used immense knowledge and research to explain the history of reading, books and words. It was fascinating to read each chapter with a detail about books history and eras. I personally enjoyed the chapter 7 Religion of the book the most. I learnt alot from Portable Magic and it is very clear from the content that Emma Smith loves books and she went through intensive research to bring the facts to us in an entertaining way. In the last chapter she wrote :" a book becomes a book in the hands of its readers. It is an interactive object. A book that is not handled and read is not really a book at all." I totally agree with this as books are to readers like a love affair or the childhood fascinating memories. Emma has done justice with her words and writing. Highly recommend this magical book about books.
