To begin with, I read this first impression with trepidation. I loved the first book, PS I Love You, although I admit I was a weepy, ugly-crying mess throughout the whole thing. It's not easy for a writer to offer a follow-up to something so vastly successful, and especially so many years later. Instantly I was transported back to Ireland and to the life of Holly (and Gerry) and pleased to learn she was happy and healing from the tragic loss of the first book. Grief is something I personally have only begun to see in my own life over the past few years and the way this is approached by Ahern really spoke to me, although my grief is of a very different flavour. The end of the excerpt threw me - I wasn't expecting it at all! I'm very excited to read more and find out what Holly will do next and where this journey will take her.
