I chose to reread PS I Love You to refresh my memory before reading Postscript but it's not really necessary as Cecilia Aherne has written this sequel in such a way that knowledge of PS I Love You isn't crucial and she explains as much as is needed of the background for any new reader to understand how Holly's life was affected by her husband's illness, death and the notes he left for her. Postscript is set seven years after Gerry died and Holly's life has moved on and she's met Gabriel. Everything seems to be going smoothly however Holly's sister has persuaded her to particpate in an event making a podcast called How To Talk About Death to a small audience in her shop, a decision Holly regrets. Angela, one of the shop's best customers, keeps trying to talk to Holly after the podcast then tells her about the PS I Love You club. Angela wants Holly to become involved with the small number of members but Holly is very resistant - until events change her mind. Cecila Aherne always writes so well and Postscript had me laughing and crying as she so touchingly describes Holly's life in the years since Gerry's death.
