I’ve recently got into Cecelia Ahern’s books and have not long finished PS, I love you so was anxious to get to grips with this sequel while the first story was still fresh in my mind. This is a wonderful sequel and picks up about six years after the closing stages of the first book. Holly has recently opened up again about Gerry’s letters on a podcast and subsequently becomes involves with a group of people with terminal illnesses attempting to replicate Gerry’s idea for their loved ones. I fell in love with this sequel and it had me gripped from beginning to end – I felt everything right along with Holly – the compassion and all the poignancy of the club members last moments. A lot of the characters from the first book are still present and it is nice to catch up on them in their new walks of life, although they do take a bit of a backseat as the main emphasis is on the stories of the ups and downs facing the club members and Holly as she helps them prepare to face their own deaths and leaving their loved ones behind. I felt like Ahern has done a beautiful job of portraying everything and it is a very thought-provoking read. What is great as well is that it is so well thought out that it works equally well as a stand-alone novel and readers won’t need to worry if they have never read or it has been ages since they experienced the first book. Ps, I love your work Cecelia Ahern!
