Right now, conservation messages could not be more important to young people. However, when a book topic is closely linked to my real life profession, I do find myself being a more picky reader.
Some elements of this first impression deliver important messages in a way in which a YA would easily understand. However, the first chapter is a big giveaway to what will essentially happen in this book, so I wouldn't feel as compelled to continue reading.
I hope that for the target audience this book is something they would enjoy.
