I loved the cover image and the premise. However, I am not a big fan of the map design at the beginning or the font used for the (Prologue) heading. That being said I enjoyed the prologue and began to settle into the story once chapter 1 began. Whether this is the writing or the fact that there is less obvious use of the awful (in my opinion) heading font, I am unsure.
Overall, I enjoyed the first impression and would love to read more of it. I was pleasantly surprised that (despite my initial impression of it being very similar to Jurassic Park, which I have just finished reading for the first time) it had a different style/feel to it. This overcame my initial concerns about a very promising premise.
I would consider buying this book despite my reservations about the design.
