I've not read anything by Wilbur Smith before, but am well aware that he is a popular, well-loved author. It is great therefore, that he is accessing a new teenage audience who will no doubt continue reading his work well into adulthood. Adults who don't realise who this book is aimed at might be a little disappointed when they read it and realise it's not for them, but I'm sure the teenage audience will love it.
His passion for Africa shines through as does his knowledge. It is an exciting, escapist setting with a thrilling, fast-paced storyline. Hopefully lovers of similar themed films (such as Jurassic Park and Hunger Games) will discover the joy of reading such adventure, rather than just watching it.
