It’s always strange when reviewing a book that o myself wouldn’t choose to read, so I try and look from the perspective of the intended audience. In this case, children, most likely boys, in double-digit age.

It’s just over 200 pages, so the right length for the target attention span.
The cover gives a good indication of what’s in store.
There’s a map, but no other illustrations, which again is age appropriate.

In terms of storyline, there’s action, danger, an exotic setting, wild and dangerous beast encounters, with added modern day themes of science vs nature. For children who grew up with the Jurassic World film franchise I expect they quid enjoy this.
The story opens in the throes of an exciting chase so the reader is immediately engaged, which o think is particularly important when dealing with the target audience readers of a young age.
