I'm reviewing Prey Zone mainly on the say so of my son as he is squarely in the target audience although I skimmed through it happily myself. It does all feel a little manufactured with two authors taking second billing despite having been the authors of the story 'left' by the headline artist Wilbur Smith. It's forgivable enough though. The story is entertaining if a little predictable but it has all the elements required to keep a youngster happy with dinosaurs, disease and a conservation element thrown in too. I'm not sure what age range this is aimed at but I'd say a 9 or 10 year old would probably enjoy it most. Some of the action is really quite gory and perhaps is aimed at a slightly older demographic but I suspect that that is exactly why your average ten year old will love it. I don't know what's left to put into the next instalment but we're looking forward to it already.
