I had a lot of fun reading this YA book. It was thrilling, action-packed, and a genuine page turner.
We enter a world where incredible scientific advances have created prehistoric predators that have been merged into computer games that simulate real-world hunting. The story is complete when you include a deliberately created virus and top-level cover-ups.
Some of the characters were a touch cliched, such the "bad guy" Gerhart who is only good and wicked and may even be insane, as opposed to Roland Bannatyne who is just good and righteous, but as it is YA, this could be overlooked. The story is situated at a family property in South Africa where Ralph and Robyn assist with the animals and promote conservation. However, we are immediately pulled to the idea that something very strange and terrifying is prowling the countryside. When Ralph and Robyn see a lion running, they are first intrigued by the mystery because they are afraid and wonder if there is another predator besides humans that hunts and terrorises lions.
