It's kind of like someone took the plot of Jurassic world, merged it with Anthony Horowitz's Eagle Strike, and then simplified it so it could be read by a younger audience.

Don't get me wrong, the premise is actually quite good, poaching, game reserves and a family versus corruption, evil and reincarnated animals.

It feels a lot like it was written by a couple of people as a lockdown project, with Wilbur Smith adding his name to boost sales, as it isn't an clever book, nor particularly intricate with the plotlines. This is what makes me believe it's aimed at Young Teenagers or even old primary school kids.

It has action, lots of excitement, but not a lot of depth to the characters, and as such didn't particularly grip me as it was a tad too simplified and the plot seemed v.obvious in places.

I'm not sure I would personally want to read the next book in the series, but I might recommend it to my younger cousins to have a go at.
