The premise of Princess of souls is unique and unlike anything I have read before. Our main character who is a witch who from the moment she is born, is destined to become the king’s next witch once her mother dies. To some it may seem like a privilege, but through Selestra’s point of view we learn that her life in the king’s castle is not so glamorous. Each year she grows closer to forfeiting her free will in order to serve the immortal king’s agenda. However, during a ceremony where is forced to predict the death of a soldier, she accidentally links her life to his and foresees her own death. Together they escape the kingdom in an effort to end the king’s cruel reign and save their own lives.

The story was executed perfectly and I enjoyed the enemies to lovers trope. The dynamic between Selestra and Nox reminded me a little of Finn and Rapunzel from Tangled. I loved their interactions and their struggles to fight against their prejudices for one another. The only criticism I have is that at times I felt the plot moved too quickly. I would’ve loved if some of the scenes were more elaborated on, but either way I really enjoyed the story!
