As soon as I heard that this was a Rapunzel-inspired YA fantasy romance (with witches and dark magic!), I knew I had to give it a try. It did not disappoint and was a cinematic, thrilling read. It also starts with a stunning map! The first line drew me in and I was fascinated by the premise – people are risking their souls for a rare wish and few survive. Our main character Selestra is heir to a terrifying fate – harvesting souls to feed an immortal king. She has a lot of responsibility, but all she wants is her freedom. Nox is a soldier intent on killing Selestra for vengeance (enemies-to-lovers vibes!), however their fate ends up entwined and they have to work together to avoid a dark destiny. This was such a good book, it was action packed and full of fun YA tropes such as the chosen one and found family. I can’t wait to read this author’s other work!
