A world where fairytales are flipped on their heads- Alexandra Christo is truly amazing at bringing these fairytale retellings to life.
Princess of Souls follows Selestra who has been locked away in her tower for 16 years preparing to take her mother's place as the King's Witch, fortelling deaths in the festival of predictions.
She then touches Nox, a soldier who is determined to bring the King down after his witches murdered his father, and their fates become entwined together.
I have to admit this book gripped me way more than to kill a kingdom. From the first chapter I wanted to read more and more and found it flowy and easy to read and become sucked in.
I liked Nox's character the most as he has angst and wants revenge. Selestra is technically his enemy but although at first he doesn't trust her, he begins to realise she hates the king too and that even though they should be enemies, theyre on the same side.
The romance is a bit bland but I'm used to more romance in my fantasy books
