She meets Nox a rebellious soldier from the last army and her fate is intertwinned whith his. This book is a really enjoyable read which i thoroughly enoyed. However, it is only tangentially related to Rupunzel so i wouldn't consider this a retelling. Nevertheless, this book contained an intriguing world and magic system, both of whch the author decribes well and in detail.
I really enjoyed the fact that it was a standalone so there is no cliffhange and investing mass amounts of time on one series can be dauting, so i found this refreshing esoecially since just recently finishing a 9 book fantasy series. It was well written and easy to read and understand overall a very good standalone novel with a happy and conclusive ending.
