I really enjoyed this book by Alexandra Christo. I have read her previous book, To Kill a Kingdom, which is not necessary to read before this book.
I thought Princess of Souls was an adventurous book full of fantasy and magic. This is a great stand-alone novel.
The book is set in a Kingdom where the tyrant ruler eats the souls of innocent people to stay immortal. Selestra has been raised to follow in the footsteps of her mother and work for the King. She remains trapped in this Kingdom.
The book follows two young adults Selestra (a witch) and Nox (a soldier) whose lives have been entwined. They must work together and journey on a quest full of magic and danger to retrieve a magical sword to survive and to change all wrongdoing. The book is full of twists and turns. I liked the relationship between Selestra and Nox, they are two very different people but the romance blossoming between them was great.
