Nox is a Last Army soldier in a mission to kill the king and the witches who protect him.
In the story, Selestra and Nox question their role and grow as a character when their journey intertwines.
I didn't read the first book but I wasn't lost in the storyline. I think the author has done a fantastic job in describing the characters and setting. I liked how each chapter focused on either Selestra or Nox as being the first person narrator so you as a reader can understand them.
There's also a map of The Six Isles to aid readers. I will be looking forward to reading more books by this author.
