This is a darker fairy tale retelling of Rapunzel and although i do think it had a lot of differences to the original, i loved it nonetheless! The world it was set in was easy to understand and enjoyable and this was appreciated as i haven’t read the first book by the author. I found the world building to be immensely well crafted. Additionally, it is extremely fast paced meaning it was a quick read and there was a lot of cool action moments involving throat to the dagger scenes etc. that were beyond enjoyable. Although I do have to admit that the second half of the book for me personally was more preferable. I personally loved both the main characters, Selestra and Nox, and also the side characters, Irenya and Micah. I think the emotional connection between the characters was profound however i wouldn’t state it was enemies to lovers. Therefore, i’d say it was a 3.5/5 but is definitely enjoyable and would recommend to people who love YA fantasy. (also the cover is gorgeous)
