There was nothing wrong with this sampler but I just couldn't connect to it. I liked the end bit where it hints at what is to come but there wasn't enough information about the characters for my taste. Jordan writes well and it's great to see more diverse YA fantasy being published. I think this is just a case of it not being the right book for me but could be for others.
