I love the cover of this book and I was very keen to say what lay within it's pages. Unfortunately, I just didn't take to the story from the First Impression. I actually found it quite difficult to finish the short excerpt we were given as it was just not engaging me.
Hopefully, this is a slow burn story that it will take the reader 40 or 50 pages to get sucked in but will then hook you tightly. It certainly has a strongly constructed realm for it's fantasy which is to it's credit. I think it is the voice of the narrator that that I was not connecting with rather than the fantasy of it all.
