I got this book through a subscription box and went into it without any knowledge about what it would be about and I’m glad I did. The whole book was amazing where you can’t put it down. It has so much cultural representation plus in the back a list of how to pronounce everything. The heart of this story was about loyalty and doing what’s right.
The author has stated there will be a much needed/wanted second book but even as a stand alone it would be perfect.
Tarisai has grown up with no love from her mother who she was told to call “the Lady”. She grew up raised by tutors in a mansion sheltered from the world and only seeing the lady when she deemed fit. That is until she is given the task to kill the future king. She gets to move to the kids palace at age 11 and grow up besides him becoming friends until finally she joins his court.
Every character was written very well.
