I absolutely loved this book! It fast became one of my favourite reads of this year and definitely among my top fantasy books. I have never read a west African based fantasy before, but I loved learning about the culture and the beliefs. It's an easily accessible book and I think even people who don't love fantasy will really enjoy it, the characters are so interesting and the story is just incredible. Tarisai is such a strong character and I really enjoyed watching her grow through the book as she builds friendships with the other members of the council and sets out to break the wish that she is compelled to fulfill from The Lady. I can't wait to read the next part of the story and see where it takes us! Also how gorgeous is the cover?
