I was hooked on the story from the very first line, which is usually an over used phrase but in this case i believe that the phrase isnt even worthy of being attatched to the book. The writing style is simply beautiful and i thoroughly enjoyed every single word.
The colour imagery is fantastic and the writer has a way of describing the senses in such a beautiful way that i truly felt like i was in the book at all times, surrounded by the beautiful images that were being described to me.
I loved how the book was set in west africa and as a person of colour i loved that because of this i could find myself more relating to the characters and imagining myself in the protagonist's place.
I dont usually read fantasy books but i really really enjoyed this one and i wish i could really describe how i felt whilst reading it. I wish there were more books like this and after reading just 30 pages i will be buying and binge reading the entire book because I'm simply in love.
