I wasn't all that sure about this book to start with. It was intriguing, and I'd heard such good things. But I still wasn't sure.

Still, I grabbed a copy and gave it ago. And it was alright.

The pace sometimes felt a little off. Some parts felt really slow, and then you'd skip a few years. And because of that, it sometimes felt that I was missing out on things. I understand why the skips were there, so I'm not mad. But I wasn't hugely keen on them either.

What was really good was the worldbuilding. The magic system and gods. It was all so fascinating. I'm looking forward to the next book to see more on that. You got such a strong grasp in this book but I want to know more! Which, in my opinion is a good thing.

I also cried near the end. The Lady seemed like a terrible mother. But you find out some stuff and it was just so emotional. I didn't expect that or the Lady's backstory as well so that was good.

An enjoyable enough read.
