From only reading the first section of this book. I really enjoyed the way the location was described, as a reader you were really able to feel and imagine being in the world and environment. It is a wonderful description of places completely new to me as someone born and raised in the cold UK. It brought the heat and conditions of an environment directly opposite to my own. The magic and mystery around the character and her relationships, especially the relationship with her mother. The writing style was enjoyable and easy to consume, making this book quite a page turner. It is very comprehensible to the reader and brings to light more representation to all people and this especially important in Young Adult literature. All young people should be able to see them selves represented in all forms of media and this book is able to do that while transporting you to a different world.
