you need to read raybearer by jordan ifueko, and that is a demand not a request. listen if this cover alone doesn’t sell this book to you i don’t know what will. so this book follows tarisai who grows up in isolation with a mostly absent mother knows to the reader as ‘the lady’. when she comes of age her mother sends her to the capital to try and join the crown princes council, the only catch is ‘the lady’ has instructed tarisai to murder the crown prince. i loved this book the story telling was so so so powerful, the magic system and the lure was so in depth and well fleshed out. the characters were three dimensional and distinctive. there were so many issues the characters faced that i redeemed unsolvable, i thought it was a full on disaster, but the problem solving was just so genius and unpredictable i was just in awe- i couldn’t put the book down nor could i stop reading it.
