I have rated the book 3.5 stars. The book has so much potential. The plot was very well thought out and it hooked me from the start. However, the second half of the book seemed rushed. It would have been better if Raybearer was split into two books so that the plot had more time to develop. As it is, there wasn't enough time given for the characters to develop a natural relationship. Instead of showing scenes of Tarisai and Kirah together, the reader was simply told that they were close. The relationship between Sanjeet and Tarisai and Dayo had the same treatment. I was also very interested in Tarisai's role as a High Judge but again, it wasn't touched upon much which was a shame. Overall, I still liked the book and would be interested in reading a sequel.
