The premise sounds like it could be a hit or miss for me - I usually don't like books from the perspective of a detective or a PI, but I am willing to give this a shot. I have also never heard or read anything by this author so I have no expectations towards them.
The first impression let me see that the writing is intriguing and captivating. It is nothing out of the ordinary although that might be exactly what a book like this needs - snappy dialogue taking charge and replacing flowery metaphors.
Overall, I feel like this book has the potential to be a perfect brainless read for me. Not higher than 3 stars unless it really amazes me, which not a lot of psychological thrillers managed to do thus far. I guess we will have to wait and see.
