Just a few words overheard at the end of a phonecall, when her husband thought she had already hung up, were enough to convince Cressida Howard that her rich businessman husband was having an affair. A friend suggests getting her sister- a cyber expert- on the case. Clever Brioni gets Cressida's husband Laurence to inadvertently allow her into his computer, and what she finds there is far worse than they could have imagined.
Not only does Laurence appear to have two women on the go- with identical gifts from expensive dress shops and jewellers- he's also gathering information on his other board members, with a view to blackmailing them. He wants to push through a deal with a rather dodgy American mobile phone company, the other board members are not so happy.
Out of the blue, the company is victim of a cyber attack, pay millions in bitcoin or all your customers' financial details will be leaked online. Are the two things linked?
Next, one of the 'other women' goes missing and the other is poisoned.
Then a dead body is found.
It's a really intricate and detailed plot, told mainly from the viewpoint of Cressida, her daughter Emily-Jane, and Brioni who has become a good friend. My first Sam Blake book, but definitely not my last!
