This was the first Sam Blake novel I've read and it won't be my last. When I first read the premise of this book, I was immediately intrigued. I hate adultery and so the idea of this book made me really curious to see what was going to happen to Cressida's unfaithful husband. However, this book is so much more than a story about a wife getting revenge.
There were so many twists and turns in this novel that I didn't see coming. The plot was incredibly fast-paced and so tightly plotted that it didn't feel like 400 pages. I loved the characters of both Cressida and Brioni and I really respected how those two women connected and built a friendship through shared experiences. I was also really impressed by Cressida's daughter, Emily-Jane.
This was a novel that I was eager to read every night. In fact, I found myself rushing to finish my tasks so I could settle down and read it. I can't wait to read all of Sam Blake's backlist novels.
