Having loved 'The Liar's Girl' by Catherine Ryan Howard I was very exited to see this new book appear.

The cover is in quite a different style to her preceding book, and I believe it is a standalone separate from her first one.

I really liked this first impression, the book and blurb are excellent, you know exactly what sort of book it's going to be, and then the first 2 pages really hooked me, with the odd little descriptions that really set the scene, and the suddenness of the murder.

Cue flashback(again from the title I'm guessing there's going to be a lot of these) and were introduced to Natalie, a reporter struggling to get her life together and suspecting her Partner of an affair, who has traveled to holiday cottages in search of the truth. This goes a bit more mundane as usual, but it's the little details and turns of phrasing that really brings it to life and lets me picture what she's doing in Ireland.

Most of this impression is a character introduction, and it's been cut for Readers First in an odd place, ending mid sentence, but based on her past work and the tone and details Catherine is including I think this book has promise.
