I received a copy of Rewind from Readers First quite a while ago, and only recently got around to reading it. I was very excited to finally read it, and although it was enjoyable, I have to say that it wasn’t as good as I had expected.
Let’s start with the format… The book has a few different time frames, which it switches between chapters. It uses rewind, fast forward, pause, and play to indicate the changes in time. I really liked this idea, I thought it was fantastic, and quite a unique set up, but at times it did make the story a little difficult to follow.
I think part of the issue with following the time changes was the amount of characters. There were so many to keep track of! Not many of the characters were particularly likeable either (but, in some cases, that was definitely the intention). However, I did really like Audrey. She had guts, and did whatever it took to find the truth and get the job done, even if that meant going alone.
The story itself was actually very interesting. Despite the fact that a few key points were quite predictable, this story still has you hooked, right until the very end. It was exciting watching all of the pieces of the story come together, even if you had already figured out the majority of them.
It also touches on the subject of being safe on social media, and how giving away too much about yourself and where you live online can be extremely dangerous, and although I like to think that I am quite responsible with what I share online, I certainly know people who aren’t.
Overall, I did enjoy this book, and it was fun to read, but there were just certain aspects that let me down a little. Thank you to Readers First for my copy, in exchange for an honest review.
