Catherine Ryan Howard really throws the reader right into the thick of the action as we witness a recording of the brutal murder of a young woman. This immediately made me want to sleep with the lights on!
Rewind is the chilling story of an Instagram star, Natalie as she starts to fear that she is being followed but her husband believes that she is overreacting. Is Natalie being paranoid or does she have a real reason to be fearful?
There are some great characters in this book. Well-developed and believable. Not least Natalie who I am sure represents many who live their lives in full view of everyone on social media. Some are so disturbing and creepy that I almost felt the need to wash my hands for fear his sick and depraved nature might infect my skin. You will know the character I mean when you meet him yourself! I liked Audrey, an aspiring crime reporter and would enjoy reading more about this character in the future.
Rewind was divided into chapters headed Fast-Forward, Rewind, Play etc and I found this to be a unique and intriguing way to divide up the book.
I found the plot and its twists totally engaging and the writing to be wonderfully descriptive and atmospheric. Grab a hot cup of tea and curl up beneath a blanket to read this novel as the dark and twisted story unfolds underneath the grey and wintery sky of a Cork beach is truly chilling!!
Rewind is the cautionary tale of the dark side of social media and of human nature. A gripping and nail-biting thriller that I thoroughly recommend!!
