I just loved this. This is such a smart writer, witty, pacy, yet very human. I did think the premise of the story was derivative, but it’s her handling of it that just makes it so good.

Natalie has disappeared whilst trying to find evidence of her husband’s infidelity. Then our central character, a less than successful journalist, is called in to work on the story. The characters are neatly drawn, some with just the right hint of sinister. The settings, both in the city and the small town possible scene of the crime are drawn with realism and detail. At times there is a cynical edge to the tone but that suits the atmosphere.

The writing is gritty but not gratuitous. I just loved it and look forward to more of this writer.
