Although initially concerned about the story being told in "Singlish" (would this feel either too difficult or too irritating?), I very quickly felt drawn into the world of Jazzy and her friends and found that the language helped me to immediately "tune into" their voices. I think this will be an ideal summer read and can already imagine laughing about the antics of the characters as they pursue their dreams, but I also think it's a story which will offer some insights into contrasting aspects of Singaporean culture.
