The first thing to mention about this book is that it's written in Singlish - a mix of English and various Chinese dialect. I personally loved this as it really helps to get into the mindset of the characters, you feel like you're part of the club! That club is the the group of three Singaporean girls in their late twenties, with the book being written from the perspective of Jazzy. They are Sarong Party Girls, which is a term for women who go out clubbing, looking to attract wealthy Western men to marry.
This book is a very interesting and sometimes shocking insight in to what it is to be a young, ambitious woman in Singapore. At first it is easy to take against Jazzy and her friends for their seemingly gold-digger ways. However as the story progresses, you can see how these girls are not only taking advantage, but also being taken advantage of. Jazzy's battle to better herself whilst struggling to be seen as a person rather than a commodity, is a compelling story that will stay with me for a long time.
