I tried to read this book a number of time In it’s entirety but sadly for me this was a ‘Did not finish’ book.
Upon reading the synopsis, I thought this would really explore the political/social challenges that they would face. Unfortunately, instead I found Jazzy the main character very unrelatable and really quite naive. She was also quite immature for 27 in a culture when woman are expected to marry young.
The language was difficult to follow and I had to keep rereading parts. This was due to the use of Singlish... a mix of Singapore and English language. Instead of adding to the authenticity I get it simply made the story harder to follow or like.
