This was one of the oddest books I have read in a long time. There were a few mildly funny bits but I just didn't like the main character, Jazzy, and I tried really hard to.
There was no depth to the book so if you are looking for some light reading then this may be the book for you.
At first the "Singlish" was difficult to get used to but then it just clicked, which is just as well as if it hadn't I would definitely have not finished this book (something I dislike doing).
I do think I would have started to say "lah" at the end of my sentences if I lived there, as that aspect of the dialect was catchy - and amused me.
I believe the author was trying to get the reader to sympathise with Jazzy, but I just couldn't due to my dislike for her selfishness and materialistic nature.
I don't think I will be rushing to read any other books by Cheryl Lu-Lien Tan.
