Firstly, the use of Singlish in this book was very relaxed and refreshing, it added real personality to the narrator, and was consequently unlike anything I’ve read, maybe besides Nihad Sirees in that sense. Besides that the comfortable air it created was a contract to the characters grotty lifestyle as the girls search for husbands. The plot was thoroughly eye opening and I loved the new view on this sort of culture my only issue would be the ending seemed slightly rushed so I can’t say I was left satisfied, that’s my only reason for 4 stars not 5 and I would still recommend to anyone. Overall it was very entertaining and immersive and I would say the ingenuitive narrative standpoint sets it apart as well as the subject matter.
