I loved the opening of this novel, its conversational style was convincing and pulled me in- I was disappointed when I reached the end of the sample. Cassy's family are very natural, but there are ominous clues already. I was shocked after feeling unsettled by the 'See you in September' line , to then read the heading 'The Cult Leader's Manual.' I didn't see that coming!
