The cover is what immediately caught my attention and I believe on a book shelf it would do the same for others. As well as that the title: Seeing Red interest me as well. However if I saw this first I would believe that it was just a normal story, which follows a character who is experiencing blindness. However I was personally shocked to have read that this an autobiographical novel, which only interested me further.

When reading this extract I found it very thought-provoking and made me think that this actually has happened to people. It's unique the way it's written, in terms of the structure of writing and the vast use of description. Sometimes the description is brief, which can be good. However as it's a biographical piece, I'd like that extra bit of description which leaves me with a high sense of emotions and many more thoughts. Another feature I liked was the fact the sections weren't too long and were quite precise. Sometimes reading a long section can become boring and that would loose the emotions which this book has the potential to offer.

Overall I'd like to read more of this book to find out more about this tragic story. I'd like to see their thoughts and feelings come out about how they feel about being blind. As well as this how it affect their day to day life, in terms of tasks and their relationship with their family/friends. I believe this novel would shed a new light on life, maybe even change my perspective on how grateful I should be for being able to see.
