I found this deeply unsettling story of a womans discovery of how the physical world, and the emotions of herself and those both close to her, and the peripheral strangers we all pass without a thought in the streets around her change when she becomes blind deeply unsettling. It's an almost voyeuristic glimpse into her brain, told in an intelligent, rapid, fierce stream of consciousness. It's often an incredibly tense, outpouring of thoughts and stays with you beyond the pages of the book. I'm not a fan of this particular style of writing, but it is a brutally honest, very frank semi-autobiographical novel, almost frenetic in its energy and reads as a torrent of emotion and she comes to terms with the changes to her world, her place within it, and how other people respond to her.
