Kellen treads his own path through life. It just so happens that path involves theft, sorcery and a talking squirrel cat. In a world where morals are a murky shade of grey, its everyone for themselves.

Spellslinger is one of my top reads of 2017. I fell in love with the distinctive world and the unique characters, and found the story pacy. I'm pleased Kellen is still on the path to spell casting. He is a determined character, who refuses to let anybody give him the answers.

Shadowblack seems just as gripping. The dream of being an outlaw is now reality, and reality is proving difficult. People are just as scared of Shadowblacks in the Borderlands. My favourite character is Ferius. I love how she's got Kellen's back, but doesn't spare him from her wicked sense of humour. I want to learn more about the Argosi tribe, and to find out whether Kellen will find his place as an Argosi.

The cover is similar to the cover of Spellslinger. If every book in the series looks this way, it will be like having a pack of readable cards. Magic.
