I'm always wary of sequels in case they don't match up to the first book in the series, however Shadowblack managed to receive four stars from me. Similar to the sequel there was nothing shocking or jaw droppingly good about this book. It kept a steady pace of interesting dialogue and discussions.
We meet a new character who's family might have been struck down by the affliction and it's up to Kellen and his friends to future out the mystery. I enjoyed reading about the additional characters and what they added to the plot.
I'm still interested to see where the story goes from here, as I'm already aware it's a fairly long series so far! I'm hoping for a little more adventure and drama in the third book.
