I absolutely loved this book and think it was the perfect follow up to De Castell's first book in the series, Spellslinger. Following the adventure of Kellen, Ferius and Reichis as Kellen learns the ways of the Argosi is thoroughly enjoyable as you never know what's around the corner for the mismatch group.
Interaction between the group is intriguing as all the characters are completely different and yet still manage to bond, despite some moments of friction, and the relationship between Kellen and Reichis is a highlight of the book for me as it's so dynamic and funny. I think all the characters are well developed and interesting with a fascinating magic system that drives the story. I love reading these books and can't wait to read the next!
