This is a spoiler free review.

if you enjoyed Spellslinger, you’ll love Shadowblack. We get to see more of the world beyond the Jan’ Tep borders and trust me, it’s gorgeous.

We’re also introduced to new characters, Seneira and her family, Argosi and another spellslinger who claims he can cure the shadowblack. I loved the plot and character development, especially Kellen’s. I felt that it was even better than Spellslinger. It was all so vivid and beautiful, It felt like I was actually there, I couldn’t tear my eyes away from the pages. Keller has grown a person throughout, he makes a few mistakes much to the amusement of Reichis.

We all know how much I love Reichis the squirrel cat, in this installment he is at his best. He’s his usual hilarious and sarcastic self, with murder and thievery constantly on his mind. Though a different side of him came out in this book which I absolutely loved, it added depth to him. His character development has been so much fun to read as it unfolds, Reichis is still a solid favourite as you can probably tell.

There’s more action, suspense that will have you glued to the pages. I’m loving how the story is progressing, I can’t wait to start Charmcaster and find out what happens next. I don’t want to say more so I don’t spoil it for any of you. I can’t recommend this series enough, if you haven’t read them yet, you really should.
