Enjoyable, unpredictable ending

So throughout the book I was hopeful that the ending would not be predictable and that it would have at least a slightly positive ending for Caroline - ideally with her being reunited with her daughter. From this perspective I was happy with the story - part of me was worried that she was going to be dead and there would have been a backstory where someone was responsible for it and had covered it up for years. Instead the whole kidnapping story was far more dramatic and certainly not an obvious ending. However, it was quite an out-there kind of idea. I don't know how her brother and his ex-wife could have lived with the guilt for all of those years or even how you get yourself in a sitaution where you think the only way out is to sell your own niece. It seemed fairly horrific and I hate to think that there are people out there who would do that. That aside the story was fairly enjoyable and kept me guessing throughout. I liked the relationship between Michelle and Caroline, and interesting to imagine how in the future Michelle, Caroline and Samantha/Lilli get on together. And also how/if the three of them are ever able to have a relationship with their Mother/Grandmother in the future after her role in it all as well.

The style going between the different timelines was good. The characters were fairly likeable and believable.
