This is the book that introduced me to Joy Fielding, and I'm so glad I read it.
I first encountered it while on holiday in The Netherlands, and went into a bookshop that also sold novels written in English.
It was intrigued by the plot so, naturally, I had to buy it.
And I am so, so glad that I did. I don't tend to like using cliches in book reviews, but this time it is simply unavoidable. This book had me hooked from the very first page. The plot was easy to follow, without being dumbed down at all. It kept you pretty on edge throughout the novel, until it reached its epic conclusion.
Endings are really important to a novel, and I think Joy Fielding really hit the nail on the head with this one.
Furthermore, Fielding's characters were full of raw human emotion which, in my opinion, is vital for any multi-dimensional character.
I can't wait to read more of her books.
