This was my first book by Joy Fielding and I wasn't pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. It was a great psychological suspense novel that was short enough to read in one sitting. The premise of the book mirrors the real-life abduction of Madeline McCann and the fallout from the tragedy. It's obviously a very difficult situation to write about but Joy Fielding handles it with skill.

It was an emotionally disturbing read and one without explicit violence. I found that the main character Caroline was quite difficult to connect with at times and felt the story might have been improved by the addition of other points of view to add depth to its portrayal. Overall, it was a fast-paced story with a twist.
